Check out our list of everything you need to know in order to brighten up your home’s summer aesthetic!

Katie Mack from Candy Colored Home

"Summer is bold and fun and it’s a great time to add in some pops of color to your space indoors and outdoors! I love to decorate seasonally with textiles, it’s the easiest and fastest way to switch up the look of your space. Colorful pillows in fun shapes are a great way to add visual interest to your couch, patio space, or bed. I love Willow & Moon, she can customize pillows for you in a variety of colors and unique shapes! Benisouk has the best collection of vintage one-of-a-kind Moroccan rugs and poufs and they have every color under the sun! I love their multicolor poufs for fun and colorful out-of-the-box outdoor seating.

Flowers always scream summer and they are an easy and affordable way to do seasonal decor. Fresh flowers are always a nice touch but I also love Afloral for very realistic-looking artificial flowers that last! Seashell decor is very summery and increasingly popular – you can often find it for super cheap in thrift stores or on Etsy. You can also decorate shelves with large shells or use smaller shells to create a centerpiece, vase, or lamp. Candles are a great way to fill your home with delicious summer scents - I love Janzy Wax Co candles!" - Katie Mack from Candy Colored Home.

"Bring the outdoors in! Now is the perfect time to go fresh flower crazy. I love adding large, fresh bouquets to my summer decor. They add the perfect touch of softness and color and are indulgent for all of the senses (maybe not taste, don’t eat your flowers unless they are edible!).

Switch out blankets and throw pillows. This is a cheap and easy decor switcharoo that won’t break the bank and adds a new texture to the space making it feel fresh and new. I like to find pillow covers that fit the same size as pillows so I can store them easily when I am not using them. Summer is always a good time to go light and bright but I still like adding my black and dark colors even in the summer.

Summer is also a great time to throw in different rugs with a natural feel. Jute and Sisal are perfect for those summer months. They lend a natural and textural element to the space. I also love to throw a beautiful vintage rug on top for a little added flair!" - Kate Chipinski.

Elsa and Dmitri from That Cherner Life

"Nothing says summer more than fresh flowers! Blooms in every room during these hot summer days are the perfect way to summer-ize any space. I love to place flowers in unexpected and delightful little areas in my home to surprise guests and just make me smile. The bathroom and/or the entryway aren't the typical places for fresh flowers but really add some excitement to the area. Seasonal flowers of the local variety are best!

Upgrade accessories with pops of colors! Swap out pillows, candles, vases, or small decor items with a pop of color for summer! I love adding a colorful candle and a bright pillow for something so easy and a little different for the season. Towels, linens, and rugs can also easily be changed to reflect the new season of summer.

Invest in a new piece. Something new for the season brings in fresh energy and can be used as an inspiration all season long. I love something vintage or something handmade from the flea market, can be a big statement or something small. This season I purchased a few baskets from our local farmers market and I've been using them in the kitchen to hold fruit and in the living room to hold the stack of books I plan to read this summer!" - Elsa and Dmitri Cherner from That Cherner Life.

"As summer approaches, switching up your kitchen shelf decor to feature items suited for hosting and outdoor entertainment is a great way to incorporate functional decor. Subtly add elements of the season, while making it easier to access your favorite glassware and trays as you enjoy spending time in your home with friends and family." - Meg Leonard from Meg Leonard Co.

Tiffany DeLangie from Pretty Real Blog

"I love freshening up my home when the seasons change. Fall seems easy – cozy elements and warm tones are no-brainers. But summer can be more of a challenge. Here are the simple ways I change my decor for the summer season.

First, I often buy a citrusy or floral candle. Scent plays an important role in how a room makes us feel so filling our home with summer-like scents just makes sense.

I also use lightweight fabrics – I swap my wool or velvet pillows for linen ones and use cotton or linens on my table. Woven textures also work really well to bring nature indoors. Whether it's a rattan-wrapped planter or bamboo blinds or decor, these materials make me think of vacationing and warm locales.

Lastly, all seasons call for plants but none more than summer. If you're not a green thumb, go faux! But something green and fresh (or pretending to be fresh ;) is such a simple way to bring the outdoors in." - Tiffany DeLangie from Pretty Real Blog.
